“I’ll insult your parent if you insult me” Omar Sadiq warns Nigerians
Umar Sadiq, the striker for the Super Eagles, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians who attempt to insult him in light of the team’s failure to secure victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Sadiq’s statement comes in response to the cyber-attacks directed at Alex Iwobi after the tournament’s final, in which Nigeria lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast on Sunday.
In the aftermath, Iwobi, currently playing for Fulham in the Premier League, confirmed his departure from social media platforms due to the bullying.
Taking to his Instastories, Umar cautioned that he is not Alex Iwobi and will retaliate against anyone who comes after him.
“If I didn’t even play, yet you insult me. Please, I am not Iwobi. I will insult someone’s father and mother together. Yes, I am that typical Hausa boy, can’t you see the determination in my eyes?
“Pushing someone into depression and mental breakdown, yet you expect life to be better for you. It will never be better for you!”
Sadiq’s warning underscores the impact of online harassment and emphasizes the need for civility and respect in interactions, especially during moments of disappointment in sports.
