GFA releases 2023/24 GPL table league

Ghana Football Association has surprisingly released the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League log after 13 days of the last fixtures.

Here are some of the key incidents from the 2023/24 season of the Ghana Premier League (GPL)

FC Samartex and Aduana FC both recorded eight home wins in the first round of the season.
Champions Medeama SC and MTN FA Cup holders Dreams FC completed their outstanding matches at the end of the first round.

FC Samartex led the league table with 32 points at the end of the first round.
Former Champions Asante Kotoko earned the most wins on the road, with four.
Accra Great Olympics goalkeeper Benjamin Asare recorded 10 clean sheets in the first round.
Isaac Mintah and Augustine Okrah were the top scorers in the first round, with nine goals apiece.
Samartex won their maiden league title when they finished top of the league at the end of the season.
Great Olympics, Bofoakwa Tano and Real Tamale United were relegated after finishing in the bottom three.

FC Samartex won their first Ghana Premier League title after an impressive vein of form led to a 10-point gap at the summit of the table. The Sameraboi lads amassed 61 points in 34 games – following 19 wins, 4 draws, and 11 losses.

Accra Lions finished 2nd in the campaign – their best-ever performance in the League since their debut season in 2021-22.

FC Samartex, Accra Lions, Berekum Chelsea, and Nsoatreman FC finished in the top four, while Great Olympics, Bofoakwa Tano and Real Tamale United got relegated after finishing in the bottom three.

Accra Great Olympics were awarded 3 points and 3 goals in their Matchday 34 fixture against Real Tamale United after the Northern giants failed to show up for the game.

The prize money for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League

Winner: GH₵500,000
Runner-up: GH₵200,000
Third place: GH₵100,000
Fourth place: GH₵80,000

This represents a significant increase from the previous season, with the winner’s prize money increasing by 70% from GH₵300,000 to GH₵500,000. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has also announced that it will reward teams finishing in positions 4-10 with cash prizes.
